UPVC Replacement Door Handles
The handles on your doors wear out over time and need to be replaced. When doing this it is essential that the new handles are in line with the exact dimensions of the handle that was previously used.
The three measurements you need to examine are the top screw position, lever and key hole dimensions. Refer to the size guide for help with this.
Inline Lever/Lever
A lever handle or lever is a modern door handle designed to work with new or replacement doors. This type of handle is available in various styles and finishes. This handle is available from several manufacturers, including Avocet ERA Fullex Hoppe Mila Millenco Yale.
Fab and Fix Windsor Inline Sprung Lever Door Handle
The door handles of uPVC/Composite are made of robust materials and are perfect for multi-point lock doors which require a robust design. The handles are inline and use the same screws and spindle to fix them. They can be easily mounted on new or existing uPVC/Composite door.
The sprung lever design allows the handle to be placed and angled for comfortable operation and is suitable for all users. The handle has been endurance tested to 200,000 cycles, this allows for the assurance of the quality of the finish and the performance of the handle over time. The lever that is sprung can be shortened to fit more locks. This is useful in doors that are narrower, where the cylinder is further away from the door. A lever that is shorter is a good choice for doors where the latch could be operated by a thumb turn inside.
Lever Pad
A Lever Pad upvc door handle operates differently to the lever type handles found on most doors. upvc replacement door handles handle types can either use a single spindle (inline) or independently from each side by using two offset or inline spindles (pad). They are typically used on UPVC doors with double glazing. They come in a range of finishes & variations.
The handles have been tested to the minimum of 200,000 cycles and are available in several finishes including White Silver, Chrome, & Gold. The finish is BS EN 1670 Grade 5 and is resistant to corrosion. This provides the handle with the best performance and durability for its intended use.
All of the UPVC lever pad designs come with the spindle and screws which allow them to be put on any new or existing uPVC door. The backplate fixation centres of 211mm allow for a wider handle, which is often a benefit when replacing an old or faulty multi-point door lock mechanism. The handle levers are spring-loaded, which solves the issue of door handles sagging out of the horizontal position when they are not in use.
It is important to match up the dimensions of the PZ for both the multipoint lock as well as the uPVC doors when selecting a replacement UPVC spindle and handle. This measurement can also be referred to as 'handle centres or cylinder centre'. It is important for matching the correct handles.
After you have identified the proper PZ size, you will need to make sure that the push and lever pads are shaped to match the American with Disabilities Act compliant handles you require for your door. These are usually round or square, with an internal lever and an external push pad.
Most of the UPVC lever pads that we offer are sprung, which means that they will return to their horizontal position after not being used, instead of hanging out and potentially sticking in the frame. This stops draughts and cold air from entering a home. The majority of UPVC lever pad handles are available in left and right handed versions, allowing them to be installed on either side of the doors.

Euro Cylinder
Cylinder locks are found on uPVC and other kinds of doors. The cylinder lock operates with a key that unlocks the cylinder case. This exposes pins that can be aligned with those in the lock, and permit them to rotate the revolving camera, thereby opening the door. Euro cylinders can be fitted with up to six pins, with both internal and external doors typically requiring different levels of security.
The selection of a cylinder is essential. It's dependent on the use that your doors and handles receive. For example, external doors require an extra secure cylinder, while internal doors can be secured using the standard cylinder. Some cylinders have extra features that can improve security, for instance, anti-drill or anti bump properties.
A euro cylinder needs to be properly measured to ensure it's the correct size for your door. The cylinder needs to be measured from the central screw hole to the ends of the cylinder. This includes the thumb turn should there be one. It is recommended to do this with the lock in place however when this isn't possible, you can remove it to measure. It is crucial to avoid having a cylindrical lock that extends beyond the handle or escutcheon. This could make it susceptible to lock snapping attacks.
The design of the latest cylinders comes with anti-drilling as well as bump resistance features. They are designed to decrease attack chances by forcing the cylinders to rotate in a different direction. This can to deflect an attack and keep your door safe.
Certain cylinders are made to withstand snapping. This is an increasingly common method of attack on cylinders, which is where the break line of the lock is targeted with a special tool to break the front of the cylinder and allow the door to be opened. This is a lot faster and more straightforward than opening multipoint locks and leaves little evidence of a break-in which could hinder an insurance claim.
Spring Cassette
The spring cassette is situated in the base plate of the door handle. It provides a sprung solution to help return your multipoint lock handles to their resting position after use. The handles had no spring, and would slide when the locking mechanism was removed. This simple component is the best way to solve this issue. It also prevents your door from getting stuck in the open or closed position as they are difficult to close manually.
These spring cassettes have been specifically designed to be used with multipoint locks that are sprung but they won't work with unsprung multipoint handles and you will require a custom hole cut into the backplate to allow them to fit (please see image for technical diagram). These cassettes are a replacement to broken or missing cassettes that are in the backplate of uPVC door handles. They have a square cut-out that accommodates an 8mm spindle and they are supplied individually.
These spring cassettes are a fantastic value for money way to fix the problem of handles on your doors that are sagging. They are simple to install and will prolong the life span of your uPVC doors.
